Nestled behind cypress hedges on the outskirts of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, Domaine de Chalamon doesn't reveal itself at first glance. The surprise is all the greater: this house boasts some of the finest gardens in the Alpilles. 30 years ago, Dominique Lafourcade, the great landscape gardener of the south, literally sculpted nature here, invented perspectives and tamed streams to create a series of six gardens, each with its own history and identity: a cypress esplanade, large lawns to celebrate unforgettable moments, alternating greenery and antique-style pilasters for meetings, fields of olive trees governed by skilful topiary pruning, numerous streams to keep the place cool...
